Sensory Room Design

Thoughtfully designed sensory experiences

Sensory room design, equipment and ideas.

We create sensory rooms for children and adults with sensory processing difficulties. The aim is to create a custom space which reduces the distress and discomfort a person experinces, and so assist with immediate sensory management challenge.

We have a lot of ideas and experience we can draw on and we with clients to develop very custom custom solutions to work for your child or adult with any of these difficulties. There is more about sensory rooms below.

Safe spaces

Our sensory rooms often include equipment, toys, lights and sounds. They are spaces which allow for calming tactile, auditory and comforting experiences for people with sensory processing difficulties. We build them to be quiet “safe” spaces away from overstimulation and allow for pleasing sensations to help re-set the sense of well-being.

Our rooms provide multi-sensory environments for people with a wide range of disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, people with brain injuries; and people with mental health issues like stress or anxiety, for example.

Experince and understanding

We draw on our many years of building experience and our own understanding of the particular needs of suffers to create the best expereince possible for an individual; and we thing about the work always in terms of the requirements of one individual.

Our understanding and approach are informed by Ciara McElhenny, leading child psychologist in Northern Ireland and in the Republic so you know you are in safe hands and working with people who understand and care about your needs.

Cost

There there can be a perception that the cost for this sory of solution is high or that a lot of space is required but that is not always the case. The space can be created as a room or as a space in a room; this could be a corner of a room, for example.

We will work with your budget to add lighting, play objects, other sensory objects, sounds and calming visual elements to help sooth stimulation. We know as well that as carers you will have a lot of your own ideas and we will work through those to bring them to life where possible.
